Mosquitoes In Bathroom Drains
There are prob 20 30 in there when i got home today.
Mosquitoes in bathroom drains. I never thought about this until today. I live in the philippines which is a tropical country. I took a saucer and placed it over the drain hole. The shop drain is more of a puzzle but i d guess the only time you re actually breeding mosquitoes there is if the drain hasn t been flushed for a while.
We kill them every night too but every night there are a new batch. Window doesnt even open in there. I closed the room and the windows shut sprayed every square inch of the room with industrial grade insecticide including the sink the toilet the drain. They arent in any other area of the house except in the bathroom.
The plastic pot with drain holes had been placed inside a prettier ceramic container. Where could they be coming from and what could i do about them. Mosquitoes hatch in standing water but the eggs can survive a surprising amount of time even when dry. Today i found mosquito larvae in the toilet of our second bathroom.
So i did an experiment. The garage drain probably sits longer than that. Theoretically if the drains aren t used often and there is standing water in the p trap then yes they could hatch there. Always have mosquitos in my bathroom they seem to be attracted to the standing water in my toilet.

When i pulled the plastic pot out there was about an inch of dirty water in the bottom of the ceramic pot and plenty of mosquito larvae and pupae. Mosquitoes are very small and can find their way in if a desirable habitat exists. I killed them poured some bleach down the drain and replaced the saucer. As mentioned above mosquitoes can live in bathroom and laundry drains and they might especially prefer drains that aren t flushed out very often.
